Jyutping is a Romanization system for Cantonese developed by the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong (LSHK) in 1993. Its formal name is The Linguistic Society of Hong Kong Cantonese Romanization Scheme. It is easy to use and compatible with all possible modern Cantonese sounds. Unlike some other Cantonese romanization systems, Jyutping only uses alphanumeric characters without diacritics and other symbols, and is thus well suited for information technology and keyboard input.
